All about NAICS Canada 2007

NAICS was developed by Statistics Canada, Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics (INEGI) and the United States’ Economic Classification Policy Committee (ECPC) of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

The three countries agreed upon the conceptual framework of the new system and the principles upon which NAICS was to be developed.

NAICS Canada 2007 is the third edition of the new North American Industry Classification System. This edition features:

  • separate English and French editions
  • detailed classification structure
  • descriptions of the activities in each class
  • concordance tables showing the relationship between NAICS 2007 and NAICS 2002
  • standard short titles shown in numerical order
  • alphabetical index of activity descriptions

NAICS is organized by 928 industries in 20 economic sectors such as:

  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • Finance and Insurance
  • Educational Services
  • Health Care and Social Assistance
  • Arts, Entertainment and Recreation
  • Accommodation and Food Services
  • Public Administration
