This electronic publication contains life tables comprising life expectancy and related estimates by age and sex for Canada, the provinces and the combined territories for the 2000-2002 period. Detailed estimates (by single year of age) have been produced for Canada and all of the provinces, except PEI. Abridged estimates (by five-year age group) have been produced for PEI and the combined territories (Yukon, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories combined). Life tables for the first year of life have been produced separately, by sex, for Canada as a whole. The publication also contains an extensive description of the methodology underlying the production of the estimates, including formulae.

History note

A previous edition, Life tables, Canada, provinces and territories, 1995-1997, was released in August 2002.

In addition, Health report - Supplement no. 13, 1990, Vol. 2 no. 4, Life tables, Canada and provinces , 1985-1987 (release date 1991), was reclassified as catalogue no. 84-537.
