Classification of status of tenure of household
This classification was approved as a departmental standard on May 17, 2010.
1
Owner
This category includes households where some member of the household owns their dwelling, even if it is still being paid for.
1.1
With mortgage
This category includes owner households who have a mortgage on their dwelling.
1.2
Without mortgage
This category includes owner households who do not have a mortgage on their dwelling.
2
Renter
This category includes households where no member of the household owns their dwelling. The dwelling is considered to be rented even if no cash rent is paid.
