Description: This session gives participants the opportunity to connect with knowledgeable staff members from each of Statistics Canada and CIHI’s data holdings and explore how these data can be used. This will also allow participants to learn about how to access these data and some of the interesting and varied analytical work and even micro-simulation modelling that is currently underway.
Come with a research question or just your curiosity to discover what’s available and ask questions.

Objective: To introduce participants to basic elements required to use Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) data files
Pre-requisite: Good knowledge of and ability to use statistical software package (SAS, SPSS, STATA or SUDAAN)
Target audience: Conference attendees who are not familiar with the CHMS and want to learn how to use physical health measures data.

Pre-requisite: Some familiarity with SAS or SPSS.
Target audience: This would be for people who have never used health data from Statistics Canada.

Objective: To assist advanced users in calculating variance and data interpretation
Pre-requisite: Good knowledge of and ability to use SAS or SPSS and basic understanding of information presented in the Workshop: Introduction to Health Survey Micro-data
Target audience: For people who are already familiar with Statistics Canada data and would like to know more about analysis using bootstrap replication techniques
