| Title | Achieving Efficiencies Through GRID Computing |
| Presenter(s) | Greg McLean and Pierre-Yves Caron; Division ABC, Statistics Canada |
| Language | Mr. McLean will present in English and Mr. Caron will present in French. |
| Topic | With today's declining budgets, higher volumes of data and reduced available processing time one must find ways to increase efficiency while keeping costs down. A grid computing solution can, under the right circumstances, reduce overall elapsed run times while leveraging existing hardware and software. Grid computing allows the processing of data to run in parallel on remote homogeneous or heterogeneous computers. This presentation will focus on how SAS works in the Grid Computing environment. Actual success stories, both within Statistics Canada as well as in the private sector, will be discussed. Finally, a beta version of a generalized SAS grid computing tool will be introduced. |
We require an abstract of your proposed presentation as soon as possible and no later than January 7, 2005, in either English or French.
The abstract will be used by the organizing committee as input, to prepare and publish the preliminary program on the STC web-site.
Detail requirements for your presentation are attached as a separate document.
The Committee plans to have the final program of the IT conference available on the STC Web-site by the end of January 2005. Registration for the conference will commence in January 2005.
