Session types

Large group session (keynote address)

This is the most formal of the Statistics Canada IT Conference sessions, with about 300 people attending. The topic is of interest to a large group. Presentation materials such as PowerPoint slides are typically used. Where material to be presented comes from a formal paper, only highlights are presented; the paper is not read. Total presentation time is no more than 40 minutes, with 5 minutes for room changes. You will be notified if your presentation will serve as a keynote address.

Small group session

In these sessions, a smaller audience, typically about 100 people, attends one to three presentations on stimulating, innovative topics of common interest. Presentation materials highlight key points. Where material to be presented comes from a formal paper, only highlights are presented; the paper is not read. Total presentation time is no more than 40 minutes, with 5 minutes for room changes.

All accepted proposals are awarded a free admission to the two day conference and a copy of the conference proceedings.

Official languages

To ensure that all presentations are available in both official languages (French and English), please provide the English/French presentation to Lawrence de Paulsen.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in all technical streams at the conference.

For presentation prepared by Statistics Canada staff, an expert in presentations/communications will be available to help presenters practise their presentations and will provide feedback on the content and format (colours, animation) as well as the style of your delivery.
