Cancellation policy

Conference and workshop fees

The registration fee covers the following:

  • conference attendance and/or attend one of the workshops
  • workshop chosen and Symposium handout material
  • health break refreshments
  • evening banquet on Thursday October 29th
  • registration kit including the program, abstracts and list of participants
  • conference proceedings (CD format)

Student registration

The $225 student Symposium fee and the $325 student one workshop/Symposium fee are for full-time post-secondary students. Students should photocopy their student identification and include this when mailing or faxing their registration form. Taxes are in addition to the basic fees. Applicable taxes and total Symposium fees

Persons registering from outside Canada, as well as persons employed by Canadian federal and provincial/territorial government departments and agencies do not pay any tax on registration fees. Persons who can provide a tax exemption number should include this number along with their registration form. The table below shows the total amount of the registration including the fee and all applicable taxes in Canadian dollars.

Registration and payment steps

  1. Contact your administrative assistant to obtain a Reference number, FRC number and Pracas code.
  2. Complete the Statistics Canada employee registration form and provide the information gathered in the previous step in the payment mode at the bottom of the form. Use only this payment mode.
  3. Fax the completed form to the Symposium Registrar at (613) 951-0744 or send it by mail at the Registrar’s address that is shown below.

Registration and payment for Other Canadian Federal Government Employees

Registration and payment steps

  1. Please see your administrative area for obtaining the Department number, IS Org. code and the IS Ref. code.  For all federal government employees who will have the fees covered by their department or agency, this information will be needed to complete the bottom of the registration form and no other payment mode is required. 
  2. Complete the Other Canadian Federal Government Form and provide the information gathered in the previous step in the payment mode at the bottom of the form. Use only this payment mode.
  3. Fax the completed form to the Symposium Registrar at (613) 951-0744 or send it by mail at the Registrar’s address that is shown below.

Payment options

  1. By cheque or money order payable to the “Receiver General for Canada”. Payment should be made in Canadian dollars and include any applicable taxes. Information about taxes and Symposium fees are available in the section Applicable taxes and total Symposium fees. Send payment to the Symposium Registrar at the address below.
  2. By Credit card payment in providing the information asked at the bottom of the registration form and contacting the Symposium Registrar at (613) 951-1486. [The country code for Canada is “1”]. You will be asked to give the credit card number and expiry date of the card. Accepted credit cards are American Express, Mastercard and VISA. Your credit card statement will show “Statistics Canada” or “Statistique Canada”. Payment is in Canadian dollars and will include any applicable taxes. Please do not include your credit card number on your registration form. Information about taxes and Symposium fees are available in the section Applicable taxes and total symposium fees.

Completion of the Symposium registration form is only for the Statistics Canada 2009 Symposium. If you wish to stay at the Four Points by Sheraton & Conference Centre while attending the Symposium, please make the necessary arrangements directly with them. Contact information can be found on the 2009 Symposium website under Accommodations.

Cancellation Policy

Substitutions will be permitted at all time. Please advise the Symposium Registrar in advance for substitutions.

Cancellations received in writing, prior to September 17th, 2009, will receive a full refund. After that date, part or all of the registration fees may be charged. However, if you do not cancel and do not attend, you will be charged the full registration fee. Moreover, the 2009 Symposium committee will not be liable for travel or accommodation expenses.
