Friday, January 17, 2003 Canadian potato production2002 (revised)Revised estimates of the area planted, area harvested, yield and production for potatoes by province are now available for 2002. The 2002 estimate of Canadian potato acreage is 434,400 acres (175 900 hectares), up 3.7% from 2001. Production is estimated to be 102,416,000 hundredweights (4 645 600 tonnes), up 10.1% from 2001, when drought conditions resulted in a potato crop that was much below average.
