Domestic travel

Third quarter 2002

Canadians made 65.5 million trips in Canada in the third quarter of 2002. Of these, 36.6 million were overnight trips and 28.9 million were same day trips. Total domestic expenditures for the third quarter were $10.8 billion.

The Canadian Travel Survey (CTS) estimates for the reference year 2002 cannot be compared with data from previous years. Changes that occurred in the CTS data collection method are responsible for this break in the series. Data from previous years will be revised when the annual CTS estimates are available for the reference year 2002.

Information on methods and data quality available in the Integrated Meta Data Base: survey number 3810.
