Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Population and family estimation methods at Statistics CanadaThe manual Population and family estimation methods at Statistics Canada provides users of demographic statistics with comprehensive "one-stop" shopping for the current procedures used by Statistics Canada to prepare population and family estimates. It includes detailed descriptions of the data sources and methodology for postcensal and intercensal population estimates (for different geographical areas and by demographic characteristics such as age, sex and marital status), births and deaths, immigration, emigration, non-permanent residents, interprovincial migration, and census families estimates. The manual also describes products and services available in the area of population estimates and gives insight into major research and developmental projects.
