Canada's international transactions in securities, December 2003
Foreign investors continued to add significantly to their holdings of Canadian stocks in December, but reduced their holdings of debt securities. Meanwhile, Canadian investors continued their purchases of foreign securities, but switched to mainly foreign bonds.

Livestock estimates, as of January 1, 2004
The Canadian cattle herd soared to a record 14.7 million head as of January 1, 2004, in the wake of the worldwide ban on Canadian cattle because of mad cow disease. At the same time, hog inventories edged down 0.4% to 14.6 million head.
