In September, Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations recorded little change in the number of aircraft take-offs and landings (510,235 movements) from the same month a year earlier (507,078 movements). The September 2006 movements were close to the level recorded in September 2001 (510,311 movements) but still down 9% from September 2000 and 15% lower than the highest September recorded in 1999.
Itinerant movements (flights from one airport to another) reached 371,511 movements, up 0.3% from September 2005. Local movements (flights that remain in the vicinity of the airport) reached 138,724 movements, up 1.4% from September 2005.
