Revised 2004 data for foreign control in the Canadian economy are now available on CANSIM. The foreign control data for 2005 will be released later this spring. Foreign control data are based on information obtained under the Corporations Returns Act combined with information from the annual Financial and Taxation Statistics for Enterprises program.
The revised foreign control data for 2004 reflect revisions to the annual financial and taxation statistics, which were released on February 7, as well as the latest Corporations Returns Act information for the country of control. The revisions to the annual financial and taxation statistics primarily reflect the inclusion of information received after the publication of the estimates.
Improvements to the data have also allowed us to produce better estimates for government business enterprises. Revised estimates for government business enterprises and private Canadian enterprises for the years 1999 to 2004 are now available on CANSIM.
Available on CANSIM: table 179-0004.
Definitions, data sources and methods: survey number 2503.
