Labour productivity, hourly compensation and unit labour cost, fourth quarter 2006 and annual 2006
Productivity in Canadian businesses increased 0.3% in the last quarter of the year, bringing annual productivity growth to 1.2% for 2006 as a whole. In 2006, the tightening of the labour market, particularly in the western part of the country, led to an increase in the growth of hourly compensation for the second consecutive year.
