Economic activity increased 0.2% in October. Increases in manufacturing and wholesale trade propelled the growth, while a decline in mining dampened it.

Weak sales in Ontario nearly offset sales gains in eight provinces, leaving retail sales in Canada virtually unchanged in October. Sales edged up slightly (+0.1%) to an estimated $34.5 billion.
