Canada's international transactions in securities, November 2007
Non-residents made significant adjustments to their portfolios in November, reducing their holdings of Canadian equities substantially in exchange for federal government bonds, in total removing $4.8 billion worth of Canadian securities. Meanwhile, Canadians disposed of $4.5 billion of foreign securities in November, all in foreign bonds.
Investment in non-residential building construction, fourth quarter and annual 2007
Investment in non-residential building construction set a seventh consecutive annual record in 2007, thanks largely to huge gains in the construction of office buildings in Alberta and British Columbia. Investment in commercial, industrial and institutional projects hit $39.8 billion, up 10.8% from 2006.
