September 2008

The September 2008 edition of Health Reports contains three articles.

The first article, "The Canadian census mortality follow-up study, 1991 through 2001," describes methods used to link census data from the long-form questionnaire to mortality data, and reports simple findings for major socioeconomic groups. The second article, "The feasibility of establishing correction factors to adjust self-reported estimates of obesity," provides correction equations to adjust self-reported measures of body mass index to more closely approximate measured values. The third article, "Organized extracurricular activities of Canadian children and youth," presents rates of participation in organized extracurricular activities by children and adolescents aged 6 to 17, by socio-demographic and socioeconomic characteristics.
