New data on food skills are now available from the rapid response component of the Canadian Community Health Survey — Annual Component.

  Note to readers

The data were collected from all provinces in January and February 2013. Respondents were asked a number of questions related to how meals are prepared such as the types of ingredients used and adjusting recipes to make them healthier. This module also asked several questions on various cooking and food preparation skills the respondents might have. The addition of these questions to the Canadian Community Health Survey was sponsored by the Office of Nutrition Policy and Promotion, Health Canada. Note that this module is the continuation of Food Skills — knowledge, planning and transference of skills, which was released on May 14, 2013. However, both are independent and can be used separately.
