Farm product prices, August 2014

Prices received by farmers in August for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, potatoes, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available.

The August Alberta slaughter cattle price was $155.91 per hundredweight, up 0.5% from July and up 39.5% from August 2013 when the price was $111.73.

The Ontario grain corn price in August was $180.29 per tonne, down 2.7% from July and down 24.7% from August 2013 when the price was $239.57.

Farm commodity prices are now available on CANSIM. Prices for over 35 commodities are available by province, with some series going back 30 years.
