The title of the map is "Energy used by primary heating system, 2013"

On this map, each province has a pie graph depicting the four different types (in percentage) of energy used by primary heating systems reported by households in the province in 2013. "Electricity" is coloured blue; "natural gas" is coloured green; "oil" is coloured purple; and "wood or wood pellets" is coloured pale red. The boundaries between the provinces and territories are indicated with dashed black lines. Oceans and lakes are coloured pale blue. Land areas outside Canada are coloured pale grey. The locations and names of some major cities in each province and territory are included in the map.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, 70% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 0% used natural gas, 20% used oil and 13% used wood or wood pellets.

In Prince Edward Island, 14% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 0% used natural gas, 65% used oil and 13% used wood or wood pellets.

In Nova Scotia, 35% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 1% used natural gas, 47% used oil and 12% used wood or wood pellets.

In New Brunswick, 60% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 2% used natural gas, 14% used oil and 16% used wood or wood pellets.

In Quebec, 76% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 7% used natural gas, 6% used oil and 7% used wood or wood pellets.

In Ontario, 21% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 62% used natural gas, 4% used oil and 2% used wood or wood pellets.

In Manitoba, 44% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 54% used natural gas, 0% used oil and 2% used wood or wood pellets.

In Saskatchewan, 16% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 78% used natural gas, 1% used oil and 1% used wood or wood pellets.

In Alberta, 17% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 80% used natural gas, 0% used oil and 1% used wood or wood pellets.

In British Columbia, 39% of households used electricity for their primary heating system in 2013, 45% used natural gas, 2% used oil and 3% used wood or wood pellets.
