Non-conventional production increases

The year-over-year increase in the production of crude oil and equivalent products in July was led by crude bitumen, up 21.3% to 7.4 million cubic metres and synthetic crude oil, up 14.8% to 5.4 million cubic metres.

These gains were partially offset by declines in light and medium crude oil, down 13.9% to 3.8 million cubic metres, and heavy crude oil, down 7.8% to 2.1 million cubic metres.

At the same time, exports of natural gas by pipelines to the United States from Canada rose 5.8% to 6.2 billion cubic metres, while imports of natural gas were down 31.9% to 1.1 billion cubic metres.
