The Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index declined 0.6% in the second quarter, following a 1.3% decrease in the first quarter. Rental and leasing prices have decreased in each of the last three quarters.
The heavy machinery and equipment (construction, transportation, mining and forestry) component declined 0.7%. The office and other machinery and equipment component decreased 0.1%.

The index was down 2.3% in the second quarter compared with the same quarter of 2014.
Note to readers
This price index measures price changes of rental and leasing activities for the commercial and industrial machinery and equipment industry.
Data are available at the Canada level only.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. Data are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted.
With the release of second quarter 2015 data, the index has been revised back to the first quarter of 2014 using industry weights from the reference year 2013.
The Office and Other Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index combines the North American Industry Classification System codes 53242 and 53249.
Next release
The Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing Services Price Index for the third quarter of 2015 will be released in January 2016.
