The publication, Health Indicators (Catalogue number82-221-X), is now available and includes updated health region level estimates on premature and potentially avoidable mortality and potential years of life lost.

The release also includes birth-related indicators, such as small for gestational age, preterm births and low birthweight, as well as infant mortality. Additionally, unemployment rates for 2015 by health region are being released.

The Health Indicators publication includes over 80 indicators that measure the health of the Canadian population and the effectiveness of the health care system. Designed to provide comparable information at the health region and provincial/territorial levels, these data are produced from a wide range of the most recently available sources.

  Note to readers

Health regions are defined by the provinces and represent administrative areas or regions of interest to health authorities.
