The volume of milk and cream sold in January declined 5.9% from January 2016 to 236 423 kilolitres in January 2017.

Sales of milk decreased 7.2% from the same month a year earlier to 207 035 kilolitres in January, while cream sales increased 4.4% to 29 388 kilolitres.

Cheddar cheese stocks on February 1 were up 9.8% from the same day a year earlier to 50 732 tonnes, while process cheese stocks increased 2.5% to 10 039 tonnes.

Data on dairy stocks for February 1, 2017 are now available in CANSIM table 003-0033. These data represent the ending stocks of the previous month.
