The Investment Banking Services Price Index (IBSPI) declined by 2.9% in 2016 following a 0.6% decrease in 2015.
The decline in 2016 was attributable to lower prices for non-resource corporate ownership services, the most heavily weighted component of the IBSPI in that year, as well as lower prices for structured funds services. Together, these components more than offset higher prices for services in resource corporate ownership, corporate debt, preferred shares and income trusts.

The Investment Banking Services Price Index is an annual release. The index collects prices for underwriting activities that are used to measure price movements over time in the investment banking industry.
With each release, data for the previous year may have been revised. The index is not seasonally adjusted. Data are available at the Canada level only.
