Prices received by farmers in March for grains, oilseeds, specialty crops, potatoes, cattle, hogs, poultry, eggs and dairy products are now available at the provincial level in CANSIM.
For example, the price of hogs in Ontario was $91.65 per hundredweight in March, up 0.3% from February and up 9.0% from March 2016 when the price was $84.10.
Meanwhile, the price of wheat (excluding durum) in Alberta was $229.53 per tonne in March, up 3.3% from February but down 2.4% from March 2016 when the price was $235.08.
Note to readers
The prices of more than 35 commodities are available by province, with some data series going back 40 years. Price data are extracted from administrative files and derived from Statistics Canada surveys.
