Canadian mushroom growers reported 6.1 million square feet of growing area in 2016, down 1.8% from 2015.
Harvested area increased 6.8% to 50.8 million square feet, while production rose 12.9% in 2016 to 133.9 thousand tons.
Ontario (52%) had the largest share of production, followed by British Columbia (39%).

Note to readers
Every five years, following the Census of Agriculture, the estimates of area, production, sales and investment in mushrooms are reviewed and reconciled to ensure coherence with the Census of Agriculture. As a result of this review, revisions back to 2008 are now available and are reflected in the data in this release.
