The volume of yogurt produced in May was 31 763 tonnes, down 16.3% from May 2016. This decrease was mainly due to a plant closure in the summer of 2016 in Quebec, Canada's largest yogurt-producing province.

Production of cottage cheese increased 5.3% from the same month a year earlier to 1 936 tonnes in May, while cheddar cheese production increased 4.3% over the same period to 13 305 tonnes.

Creamery butter stocks on June 1 were at 28 379 tonnes, up 46.6% from the same day a year earlier.
