The price of desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers increased by 0.1% in July.

The increase was attributable to higher prices for laptop computers (+0.5%).

Lower prices for servers (-0.5%) and desktop and similar computers (-0.1%) partly offset the increase of the index, while prices for tablet computers were unchanged.

Prices for smart phones were unchanged from June to July.

The price for computer monitors and computer printers edged down 0.1%, as a result of lower prices for computer printers (-0.2%) and computer monitors (-0.2%).

Year over year, prices for desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers decreased 3.1%. Prices for computer monitors and computer printers were down 2.3% compared with July 2016.
