The Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) rose by 0.4% in the second quarter, following a 0.1% increase in the first quarter.
Engineering services reported a price increase of 0.6% from the first to the second quarter—the first increase since the second quarter of 2015.
Prices for surveying and mapping services rose by 0.1%.
Prices for the architectural and landscape architectural services component were unchanged in the second quarter.
Year-over-year change
Year over year, the AESPI decreased 0.1% as a result of lower prices for engineering services (-0.3%), the largest component of the AESPI. This offset higher prices for architectural and landscape architectural (+1.6%) and surveying and mapping (+1.1%) services.

The Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index (AESPI) is a quarterly survey that collects information on the prices of architectural, engineering, surveying and mapping services.
With each release, data for the previous quarter may have been revised. Data are also subject to an annual revision with the release of second quarter data of the following reference year. The index is not seasonally adjusted. Data are available at the Canada level only.
