The price of desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers rose 0.2% in October.

Laptop computers (+0.3%), servers (+0.4%), and desktop and similar computers (+0.2%) all contributed to the increase, while tablets (-0.1%) posted the lone price decline.

Smartphone prices decreased 10.7%.

Prices for computer monitors continued to decline in October (-0.5%) but this did not significantly influence the index for computer monitors and computer printers, which was unchanged.

Year over year, prices for desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers decreased 3.2%. Prices for computer monitors and computer printers were down 2.2% compared with October 2016.
