- Family violence: A statistical profile, 1997
All segments of the family are affected by family violence, according to the newest statistical profile of family violence in Canada. Parents assaulted children, both men and women assaulted their spouses and even the elderly were victims of their children.
- Shelters for abused women, 1997/98
On April 20, 1998, just over 6,100 women and children were living in 422 shelters that offered refuge from family violence. About 48% of these individuals were women and 52% were children.
