MAJOR RELEASES
  • 1995 graduates who moved to the United States, March 1999

About 1.5% of the more than 300,000 men and women who graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution in 1995 moved to the United States after graduation. Despite this relatively small proportion, those who moved tended to be high-quality graduates in certain key fields.

  • Industrial Product Price Index, July 1999

Industrial product prices jumped 1.2% in July to stand 2.2% higher than a year earlier. This was the largest 12-month change since December 1995.

  • Raw Materials Price Index, July 1999

Manufacturers paid 4.6% more for their raw materials in July compared with June. This increase was almost entirely the result of higher prices for crude oil and non-ferrous metals.
