Assessing requests for DLI data

The DLI licence (PDF) is a contract which details the roles and responsibilities between Statistics Canada and the educational institution wishing to participate in the Data Liberation Initiative.

The highlights of the agreement follow:

• Authorised users of DLI data within a member institution include:
  • Researchers
  • Educators
  • Students
  • Other staff members
• DLI data may be used for:
  • Teaching
  • Academic research
  • Publishing articles and reports
  • Planning of educational services
• DLI data may not be used for:
  • Contractual, or income-generating activity
  • Identification or disclosing information about any person, business or organization
  • Redistribution outside the DLI
