Canada's population clock

Source: Statistics Canada, Demography division (updated December 10, 2008).

The clock evolves according to the demographic growth rate estimated for the year ending on June 30th, 2008 and adjusted to take into account the fact that 2007-2008 was a leap year. By applying this rate (1.163%) to the estimated Canadian population as of July 1st, 2008 and keeping it constant throughout the year, Canada's population is growing by one person every minute and 21 seconds.

This growth is broken down into:

  • One birth every 1 minute and 27 seconds
  • One death every 2 minutes and 13 seconds
  • A net migration gain of one person every 2 minutes and 1 second

At this rate, the population of Canada will reach 34,086,245 by July 1st, 2010.
