Statistics Canada is pleased to announce the launch of two new 2016 Census data products that make key housing and sociodemographic information more timely, accessible, and easy to use.

The first product, released in partnership with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, provides up to date and detailed information on housing in Canada.

Planners understand the core housing needs of Canadians in terms of suitability, adequacy and affordability. The richness of this information will help answer important questions on today’s housing situation and what decisions and investments are required to meet tomorrow's needs.

A new way to visualize census data

Statistics Canada also launched a new interactive dashboard that will enable an innovative way to explore statistical information from the 2016 Census – including core housing need data – by presenting sociodemographic indicators, incorporating maps, charts, text and tables.

The data on Core Housing Need indicator and the Census Program Data Viewer can be accessed in the Census Program module on the Statistics Canada website.

On November 29, 2017, Statistics Canada will publish additional data from the final 2016 Census release, providing greater insights on the Canadian population.
