Changes To The CAED Application
C01. WINDOWS 8
CAED 2014 is compatible with the Windows 8 operating system.
C02. WINDOWS XP
Microsoft will end support of the Windows XP operating system on April 8th, 2014.
Microsoft updates to the Windows XP operating system, including security updates to help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malacious software will no longer be provided after April 8th, 2014.
CAED 2014 is compatible with the Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or later) operating system.
Changes to the Windows XP operating system and/or hardware/software installed after April 8th, 2014 may result in incompatibilities with the CAED application that may not be resolved.
It is recommended that client's migrate to the Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 opearting system.
C03. CAED INSTALLATION
The CAED application is now installed using Windows Installer technology. Please review the CAED installation guide for important instructions on installing and uninstalling the CAED application.
C04. CAED ENCRYPTION
The Privacy Enhanced Mail (PEM) encryption format is not supported in CAED 2014.
The menu option, "Options -> Configure Encryption Options" in CAED 2013 has been removed in CAED 2014.
All clients will use the S\MIME encryption format in CAED 2014. Clients who are upgrading from CAED 2013 and could not use S\MIME due to technical issues will need to contact the CAED Helpline (1-800-257-2434) for technical support.
C05. DIGITAL SIGNATURE ALGORITHM
All CAED related executables distributed by Statistics Canada have been digitally signed by Statistics Canada.
The digital signature allows CAED clients to verify that CAED related executables have been created by Statistics Canada and have not been tampered with or otherwise altered.
CAED 2014 uses a more secure digital signature algorithm (SHA256) when applying a digital signature to executables.
To view/confirm a digital signature using Windows Explorer, right click on a CAED related executable (.EXE) and select "Properties -> Digital Signatures".
Clients using the Windows XP operating system cannot successfully view/verify a digital signature unless they have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or later).
C06. COMMODITY (bug fix)
When adding a large number of commodities, a memory error wasencountered.
C07. EMAIL TRANSMISSION (bug fix)
There was a misleading successful transmission message when the userdidn't put their email address with Local Email (MAPI).
C08. FTP TRANSMISSION (bug fix)
With FTP IP*Works and FTP Sysax, a user could receive a message saying that the transmission to StatCan and CBSA was successful even if it wasn't.
C09. EMAIL TRANSMISSION
A message has been added to the "Information" window at the end of successful email transmissions reminding the user to check their email client Outbox for declarations that are "stuck" (i.e. have not been sent).
