Customs Notice for CAED 2016 version 16.00

Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) - 2016 Version Release

  1. The purpose of this notice is to inform exporters that the 2016 version of the Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) software will be available and ready for download when it is released on December 7, 2015.
  2. The 2015 version of CAED will expire on January 30, 2016 at which point, only the 2016 version will be valid.
  3. CAED participants should upgrade to the CAED, 2016 version, by downloading the software along with the release notes from the main page of Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED).
  4. The following offices will be eliminated from the "place of exit" field in the 2016 version of CAED:

  5. The following offices will be added to the "place of exit" field in the 2016 version of CAED:

  6. The following offices, shown with revised port names, will be added to the "place of exit" field in the 2016 version of CAED:

  10. Changes To The CAED Application
    • C01. WINDOWS 10
      • Initial testing indicates that CAED 2016 is compatible with the Windows 10 operating system.
      • In the case of unforeseen incompatibility, contact the CAED Helpdesk at Statistics Canada for technical support.
    • C02. WINDOWS XP
      • Microsoft has ended support of the Windows XP operating system.
      • Microsoft updates to the Windows XP operating system, including security updates to help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software are no longer provided.
      • CAED 2016 is compatible with the Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or later) operating system.
      • Changes to the Windows XP operating system, including the installation of hardware/software, may result in incompatibilities with the CAED application that cannot be resolved.
      • It is recommended that clients migrate to the Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10 opearting system.
    • C03. INCLUSION OF LOCAL EMAIL (MAPI) TRANMISSION OPTION
      • The release notes in CAED 2015 stated that the local email (MAPI) transmission option would be removed from future versions of CAED.
      • The removal of the local email transmission option from CAED has been deferred until further notice.
      • CAED 2016 includes the local email transmission option.
    • C04. OTHER EXPORT DETAILS
      • Selecting "Marine" as the mode of transport in the "Other Export Details" tab will automatically select "Yes" for "Are the goods containerized?".
