Selection of an appropriate region and statistics for project:
  1. Region selection poor, making it impossible to defend position.
  2. Region selection somewhat problematic, making a defendable position difficult.
  3. Region selection good, making defendable position possible.
  4. Region selection excellent, making defendable position easy.
Research and connections with statistics:
  1. E-STAT was not used or used ineffectively.
  2. E-STAT was used, but data selected were inappropriate.
  3. E-STAT was used and data selected were appropriate.
  4. E-STAT was used effectively and data selected made important contributions to the report.
Use of visual presentations of data (graphs and maps) to support argument:
  1. Little or no use of visual aids.
  2. Some visual aids, but no support for argument.
  3. Graphs and maps support presentation.
  4. Graphs and maps emphasized major points.
Oral presentation was effective and tied all points together:
  1. Oral presentation weak, needs improvement.
  2. Oral presentation smooth, but position not clear or not well defended.
  3. Oral presentation well produced and presented. Position well defended.
  4. Oral presentation very effective, all points well connected and defended.
