Based on data from the Alan Guttmacher Institute, Canada's teenage pregnancy rate is ranked as moderate, compared with other western industrialized countries.14 The Alan Guttmacher Institute is an independent, not-for-profit organization in the United States, whose mandate is to inform individual decision-making, encourage scientific inquiry and enlightened public debate, and promote the formation of sound public- and private-sector programs and policies related to sexual behaviour, reproduction and family formation.15
