Economy catches chill

Economic activity edged down 0.1% in January, the first decline in nearly half a year, in the wake of disappointing auto sales and weakness in oil and gas production.    more >>

This week’s Spotlight is on permanent layoffs. A new report shows that Canadian workers who lost their jobs during the past two decades had an increasingly tough time finding new employment even though layoff rates declined markedly.
