According to popular belief, young adults live with their parents longer (or come back home) in order to save money so they can buy their own home. To what extent does this hypothesis hold true? This article examines the association between the age at which adult children leave their parents’ home and home ownership in their thirties. It also asks whether “boomerang” kids who came back to live with their parents are more likely to own a home.

Canada is also a player on the world stage as a source country of migrants. Whether Canadian migration abroad is temporary or permanent, long term or short term, far or near, Canadians are making their mark in other countries. This article, although not a complete accounting of Canadians living abroad, shows that Canadian out-migration is just as selective as in-migration.
