Chart 1  Kids' sports participation declines

This chart shows vertical bars for 1992 and 2005 for five groups of children: all children aged 5 to 14, boys aged 5 to 14, girls aged 5 to 14, children aged 5 to 10 and children aged 11 to 14. Each bar shows the percentage of children who regularly participate in organized sports. The data show that there has been a statistically significant decrease in organized sports participation between 1992 and 2005 for all groups except for girls where participation has remained almost the same (i.e., the difference in sports participation for girls is not statistically significant between 1992 and 2005).
