    • In Canada, general government gross financial liabilities were 69.7% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2008, compared with 95.2% in 1998.
    • Canada's general government revenue in 2008 was equal to 38.9% of GDP, compared with 32.2% in the United States and 37.9% across Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries.
    • In Canada, general government expenditures were 39.7% of GDP in 2008, compared with 44.8% in 1998.
    • The Canadian government's total tax revenue in 2008 was 32.2% of GDP, compared with 26.9% in the United States and 48.3% in Denmark.
