  • Mean score in reading on 2009 PISA test: Canada 524, Australia 515, United States 500. The OECD average is 493.
  • Mean score in mathematics on 2009 PISA test: Canada 527, Australia 514, United States 487. The OECD average is 496.
  • In 2008, Canada spent 6.0% of its GDP (both public and private sources) on educational institutions of all levels, close to the OECD average of 5.9%.
  • In 2009, 30% of the population aged 25 to 64 had attained tertiary level education in more than half of OECD countries. In Canada, this share is close to 50%.
