Chart 13.1 is a line chart showing the percentage of all immigrants to Canada by class of admission from 1991 to 2009. The classes are economic, family and refugee.

Over the period, the share of immigrants in the economic class grew and those in the refugee and family classes have fallen.

Immigrants in the economic class made up 37.2% of immigrants in 1991, rising to 60.9% in 2009.

Immigrants in the family class made up 37.8% of immigrants in 1991, falling to 25.9% in 2009.

Immigrants in the refugee class made up 23.2% of immigrants in 1991, falling to 9.1% in 2009.
