Chart 25.1 is a line chart showing the annual percentage change of three price indexes from 2001 to 2011.

The Consumer Price Index was relatively stable from 2001 to 2010, increasing each year within a range of 1.8% to 2.8% each year—except in 2009, when it edged up 0.3%. In 2011, the CPI rose 2.9%.

Annual shifts in the Industrial Product Price Index were more varied. It decreased 1.2% in 2003, increased 4.4% in 2008, dropped 3.5% in 2009 and increased 4.6% in 2011.

The Raw Materials Price Index varied more sharply than the other two indexes. For example, it increased 13.3% in 2005, dropped 22.9% in 2009 and increased 15.3% in 2011.
