Chart 30.1 is a bar chart showing the average time for commuters to get to work in 2010, by the size of their region of residence.
Commuters from regions with 10,000 to 99,999 residents were more likely than other commuters have a short trip to work. Forty-nine percent commuted for less than 15 minutes. This compares with 19% of commuters from regions with 1 million or more residents and 30% of all commuters.
Commuters from regions with 1 million or more residents were more likely than other commuters to spend more time getting to work, with 23% taking 45 minutes and more compared with 7% of commuters from regions with 100,000 to 249,000 residents and 17% of all commuters.
As well, 25% of commuters from regions with 1 million or more residents reported taking from 30 to 44 minutes to get to work compared with 11% of commuters from regions with 10,000 to 99,999 residents and 19% of all commuters.
