Data source for Chart 31.1 is a line chart showing the number of overnight trips residents of the United States and residents of other countries took to Canada from 2001 to 2010.

The number of overnight trips United States residents took to Canada increased from 15.6 million in 2001 to a peak of 16.2 million in 2002. It then decreased fairly steadily to 11.7 million in 2009 and remained at 11.7 million in 2010.

The number of overnight trips residents from countries other than the United States took to Canada declined from 4.0 million in 2001 to 3.2 million in 2003. It then increased steadily to 4.2 million in 2008 before edging down to 4.1 million in 2010.
