Small producers in manufacturing

Scope of the research program about small producers

  • Examines the contribution that small firms make to employment growth utilizing comprehensive longitudinal databases.
  • Develops measures of entry, exit and firm turnover using similar definitions and comparable databases to investigate the relative dynamics of small manufacturing firms in the United States and Canada.
  • Examines whether small producers have become less productive than large producers.
